In the first of our App reviews, I figured I’d start with the one I sleep with every day: the TempDrop. I will start by saying I have the TempDrop hardware and ordered an armband from here (She also sells reusable menstrual products, if you’re in to that). I found that the arm bands that come with the TempDrop–either the bra strap style one of the adjustable one– didn’t work for me, they slid down or pinched and just were not comfortable for me. My temperatures have also been less erratic with the new armband.
I also can’t take my temperature orally on a strict schedule every day. I work nights and will be moving into a dayshift schedule, my sleep is constantly moving around and I have a hard time staying asleep. With TempDrop that doesn’t matter so long as I’m hitting the 4 hours of wear while I’m sleeping. You’ll see below that I have low sleep scores and struggle to stay asleep. With orally temping, this would throw off my temperature daily.
Using the TempDrop is as simple as turning on the hardware and going to bed. You’ll need to wear it while you’re sleeping for at least 4 hours to get an accurate reading. I typically sync mine to my iPhone every morning when I get up. TempDrop also gives you a view of how you slept, providing information on deep sleep, light sleep, awake times, and upright times. You also have the option to see how your temperature fluctuates, your time in bed, time asleep, and provides a sleep score.
The Dashboard of the app shows the overview of your cycle. This includes showing when you’re in the fertile portion of your cycle, how many days until your period, what phase of your cycle you’re in, and shows the temperatures of your past days.
TempDrop has the feature that each day you can also add the symptoms. So, you’ll click on the day and it will lead to a menu like this:

Personally, I only use TempDrop for my sleep and temperature. I pay the $4.49 monthly subscription ($35.99/yearly) to see my fertile window, my sleep cycles, and to confirm ovulation. I upload all of my temperatures into FertilityFriend as well as my symptoms and cycle information as I think their charting style is easier to read. I used Glow for a while, but with the change in their graphics I am not a big fan of the clunky style they’re using.
Now onto what other’s are saying about TempDrop!
On Amazon we are showing a 4 star rating, but only 156 reviews. The big complaints are about the armband, but TempDrop is listening! They did recently start to offer a band that that a closure similar to a bra back. Again, I chose to order third party through Etsy for a more comfortable band. Users are in agreement that this makes temping so much easier. Another complaint is the battery is hard to change. This I will kind-of agree with. If you have a push start car, the batteries are similar to change. I was able to follow a Youtube tutorial on changing it and didn’t have any issues, but I did require A’s help as I needed a third hand.

***A QUICK reminder to anyone considering temping– you do not have to buy a fancy thermometer for this method to work. However, if you chose to orally temp you’ll need to be prepared for a huge commitment. Getting enough sleep, waking up at the same time every day, and remembering to temp first thing upon waking up are all super important! Do your research!***
